• 2016 Emmaus Bible College Annual Report

2016 marked the completion of our 75th year of teaching. In that time we have granted over 7,000 degrees, certificates, and diplomas, and those graduates are currently making an impact for Christ in over 33 countries around the world.

Our current student population is growing year by year as we continue to offer many affordable options for their educational journey. We remain steadfastly focused on teaching Bible as the core of our mission, and creating and sustaining a Christ-centered, relational learning environment for our students. Please pray with us that we will be faithful to our calling, and that God will provide for this work long into the future.

God’s faithfulness is simply amazing, and we celebrate the enduring impact of Emmaus Bible College in the lives of individuals and families. In the midst of a sea of cultural change all around us, our passion is centered on impacting lives for Christ – not just our current students, but all those who will be affected by them as they disperse upon graduation. I’m reminded of Paul’s instruction to Timothy, his son in the faith:

“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2).

I’m grateful for the trust that you place in us by supporting and recommending Emmaus Bible College among your friends, family, and local churches. In 2016, Emmaus was honored to be ranked #1 among the top 50 bible colleges in the USA in areas such as enrollment growth, retention, and graduation rates.

We desire for Emmaus Bible College to be flourishing, relevant, and accessible as a trusted name for transformational learning rooted in biblical truth.

    To continue the upward trend

We want to see the school filled with students. Enrollment has been steadily climbing since 2013, and we wish to continue that pattern by reaching 300+ students on campus.

To fully use what God has given us

The pattern of growth we hope to continue is not just for the sake of numerical growth, but ultimately to allow Emmaus to fully utilize the incredible facility and resources God has provided us.

To further reach the world for Christ

Making full use of our facility and resources means we are able to educate and equip more learners who go out from Emmaus to impact the world for Christ. This is our ultimate purpose: to bring God glory.

Emmaus alumni work and serve across the globe. It's incredible for us to hear and see how they are impacting the world for Christ in their ministries, professions, and communities.

Impacting the World for Christ in Memphis, TN

I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies at Kingsbury Middle School, a public school in Memphis, TN. This is my 4th year teaching at Kingsbury. My time at Emmaus has prepared me as a teacher by training me to think critically and ask tough questions, which, as a history teacher, is what I teach my students daily. Emmaus also gave me ample opportunities to serve a variety of people – from prospective/current students, faculty, staff, the local church, the community, among others. I believe the Lord has used these opportunities to prepare me for the variety of people I serve at my current school – parents, students, fellow teachers, administrators, community partners, etc.

My Emmaus education gave me a firm foundation in God’s Word as well as an understanding of history. It has been through my biblical lens, framed through my time at Emmaus, that I engage my students in instruction, correction, reinforcement, etc. And it is because of the tutelage of Emmaus professors, like the late Dr. Patten, that I am able to give my students a lens to view history and seek to impact my students and the world for Christ.

Impacting the World for Christ in Des Moines, Washington

Kristin and I are involved in full time youth ministry. I am the Youth Director at Des Moines Gospel Chapel in Des Moines, Washington. I oversee the middle school and high school youth groups as well as the teen Sunday school. Emmaus prepared me to write curriculum as I learned how to dig deep into God’s Word, obtaining vital truth for believers and hope for unbelievers. I am also responsible for the teaching of this curriculum which is my favorite part! Before Emmaus, I didn’t have the skills that I needed to be an effective communicator of God’s Word. Having been trained well at Emmaus, and with the essential help and grace of the Holy Spirit, I feel confident to faithfully and accurately teach God’s truth to spiritually starving teens. It is my joy to take students up to Lakeside Bible Camp and see God use the environment, concentrated studies on God’s Word, and godly relationships to foster spiritual rebirth and spiritual maturity. Emmaus’ Camping Program, as well as the internship at Forest Springs, have been invaluable to my education. I was taught to think critically about how to bring truth to students in the context of camp and the church.

Emmaus has taught me the importance of using relationships to foster spiritual growth and maturity, as well as help foster a Biblical desire to see spiritually lost people become spiritually reconciled to Christ. Using relationships and Biblical truth have allowed me to bring the Word of God to a starving culture. As a youth pastor, I have to critically evaluate the physical and spiritual needs of my students; I would not have the ability to impact them for Christ at this level without Emmaus’ training.

As we look back over the past 75 years, we recognize several strong indicators of God's faithfulness to Emmaus Bible College in the past, and we trust Him for the future.
